Emmie Russell Prize

The Emmie Russell Prize was initiated by Emmie Russell, one of Australia’s first and most highly regarded orthoptists. She wanted to encourage excellence in research by younger orthoptists and so initiated the prize in 1975. The award is presented to the best presentation at the OAA Annual Scientific Conference. The presentation is judged on its value to the profession, scientific content and integrity, clarity and presentation.

Eligibility

The Emmie Russell Prize is presented at the OAA Annual Scientific Conference to a graduate from one of the recognised Australian training schools, who present their paper at the conference. They must be a graduate of five (5) years or less at the year of entry for the prize. The orthoptists must be a member of the Orthoptic Association of Australia. The submission may have been researched while the candidate was a student. The paper can either be a sole author paper or be a multiple author paper. In the case of multiple authorship only one author is eligible to submit and has to be able to provide proof of majority contribution.
