Dr David Francis graduated with a medical degree from Monash University in 2002 and has since worked as a general hospital doctor in Melbourne, Geelong and Perth. David undertook research to complete a Master of Surgery degree through the University of Melbourne and the Centre for Eye Research Australia in 2006.
David trained in ophthalmology through the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and went on to complete a fellowship in corneal and anterior segment surgery. David has published ophthalmic research in peer reviewed journals in addition to presenting research at national and international ophthalmology conferences.
David started working in Ballarat at the start of 2014 and is currently living in Ballarat with his wife and three children. In addition to working at the Ballarat Eye Clinic, David works as a visiting consultant at the Ballarat Base Hospital and as a Consultant surgeon at the Cornea Unit at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital. He performs Corneal Collagen Cross-linking and various forms of corneal grafting in Ballarat. He looks forward to presenting on Keratoconus and Corneal Collagen Cross-linking at the ASM.

Dr Rod O’Day is a consultant ophthalmic surgeon at the Royal Victorian Eye & Ear Hospital, Royal Children’s Hospital and University Hospital, Geelong and an Honorary Researcher at the Centre for Eye Research Australia. He specialises in ocular oncology, medical retina and general ophthalmology. His research interest is ocular oncology, in particular, best practice management of choroidal naevi, advances in management of retinoblastoma and new diagnostic tools for intraocular lymphoma. Rod will be presenting Assessing Choroidal Naevi during session 1 at the ASM.
