
New Online Learning Management System
Orthoptics Australia is pleased to announce the launch of Intuto our new online learning management system.
A wide range of OA Journal Club articles and Victorian Branch Continuing Education Series lectures are now available via the OA Online Shop. All articles/lectures are AOB approved for 2 CPD points.
Access to Intuto is simple:
- Visit the OA online shop
- Select the article/video series that you wish to participate in
- Each of these modules is free for members to access, and $11.00 per OA Journal Club article, and $40.00 per Education Series recording for Non-Members to access (prices include GST). So please login to the OA website before accessing the OA online shop in order to ensure you access these modules free of charge.
- Confirm your order at the bottom of the page
- You will receive an email from us confirming your order – this email will contain the instructions for you to access the online learning platform.
New content will be continually added throughout the year, so don’t forget to check back in to access this wonderful resource.

Vision2020 are seeking nominations for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Committee. Currently Orthoptics Australia has representation on all four of its policy committees. Aged Care Royal Commission Submission
Vision2020 have lodged a submission on behalf of members to the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety concerning older Australians who have vision loss or blindness.

AHPA Update
AHPA has launched an NDIS registration support website for allied health providers. The website provides free resources and guidance to help allied health providers meet the requirements of NDIS registration and prepare for the audit process associated with registration. Information for allied health providers about verification-level audits is currently available on the website. Information about certification-level audits will be coming soon, as well as webinars to help providers work their way through the steps involved.

Public Consultation
Australian Government. Department of Health - National Preventive Health Strategy
The first phase of public consultation is a national consumer survey that is open to all Australians of all ages. Results from the Living Well for Longer Survey will be used to assist in the development of the National Preventive Health Strategy. The consumer survey is located on the website under Public Consultation. Please distribute the survey to your networks.
Survey Deadline: Friday, 31 January 2020.
Research Review Speaker Series – Future Directions in Ophthalmology 2019
This 2-day event featured a number of high-quality speakers including Prof Paul Mitchell from the University of Sydney, A/Prof Sam Fraser Bell from Sydney Eye Hospital, and Sebastian Waldstein, the Associate Director of the Christian Doppler Laboratory for Ophthalmic Image Analysis at the Department of Ophthalmology of the Medical University of Vienna.

Survey Opportunity
OA has been contacted by an Austrian orthoptic student who is completing her masters on therapeutic measures for amblyopia. The study’s aim is to provide an understanding of the cross-national differences in treatment of amblyopia with children.
If you would like to participate, please access the questionnaire here.
Completing the questionnaire will take approximately 10 minutes. Any data provided will be processed anonymously and will be used for scientific reasons exclusively.
Survey period: Sunday, 15 December 2019 to Wednesday, 15 January 2020. The survey closing date has been extended to Monday, 20 January 2020.
