An additional Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care project is commencing work on the National Allied Health Workforce Strategy by conducting an environmental scan. Orthoptics Australia attended a group interview of professional associations with the independent review team to provide initial information about issues related to workforce sustainability including, training sufficient workforce and retention within the workforce. These areas have been a significant challenge for the orthoptic profession and Orthoptics Australia will be highlighting key issues that have contributed. This will be the first of several stages of this project.
Phase 1: public consultation is now closed.
Phase 2: public consultation will be in August 2024. This is series of in-depth stakeholder webinars. Please check back for information on how to participate.
Phase 3: public consultation will occur towards the end of 2024. This will be via our consultation hub, and will seek input on potential priorities and actions for the strategy.
