Safe Work Australia would like to invite your organisation to complete this survey for the development of a model Code of Practice (model Code) for the health care and social assistance industry. Open for submissions until COB 30 September 2024
Safe Work Australia is an Australian government statutory agency that leads the development of national policy to improve work health and safety (WHS), and workers’ compensation arrangements in Australia.
The aim of the model Code will be to provide plain English work health and safety guidance, with a focus on hospitals, aged care, and disability support, including in-home based setting. To help us draft the model Code, we are reaching out to key stakeholder organisation to provide feedback via this survey.
We would like to better understand the following situations within hospitals, aged care and disability care, including in home-based settings:
key areas (e.g. hospitals, residential aged care, disability support, in-home based settings)
common hazards experienced by high-risk workers (e.g. people handling, violence and aggression, slips, trips and falls, hazardous chemicals etc.)
effective and reasonable control measures that are used by workplaces (e.g. good workplace design with enough space to use lifting aids, ceiling hoist).
high-risk occupations (e.g. nurses, care and support workers, paramedics).
We know that the health care and social assistance workforce is diverse, so we are also interested to know how we can better communicate guidance to workers (e.g., use case studies and videos).
