Orthoptics Awareness Week (OAW) is a time to shine a spotlight on the incredible work of orthoptists and the essential role they play in eye health care. Kicking off with World Orthoptic Day on 2 June 2025, this week is all about celebrating the profession, raising awareness, and sharing pride in being an orthoptist
This year’s theme, I am an orthoptist, is a powerful call to action.
It is an invitation for orthoptists everywhere to share their stories, showcase their expertise, and take pride in the difference they make every day. Whether you're working in clinical care, research, education, or leadership, your work as an orthoptist makes a difference.
For OAW 2025, we encourage orthoptists and our colleagues to celebrate the profession and highlights our impact. Through this campaign, Orthoptics Australia aims to:
Empower orthoptists to share their stories and promote the value they bring to patient care and the broader health community.
Encourage employers and healthcare leaders to recognise, support, and celebrate the vital contributions orthoptists make within their teams and organisations.
Inspire orthoptists in clinical practice, in training and those applying their expertise in other fields, to embrace their professional identity and advocate for the value of their orthoptic training.

At the launch of OAW on the 2nd June 2025, Orthoptics Australia will share a 2025 edition OAW Frame on Instagram that can be applied to your own posts. A downloadable version of this frame will also be available to apply to posts for other platforms such as Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn etc.
Throughout the week, Orthoptics Australia will feature orthoptists from all walks of life to highlight the diversity and impact of the profession. We encourage you to join in by sharing photos or videos of your role, your workplace and how you contribute to eye health.

Celebrate Orthoptics Awareness Week 2025 by hosting a morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, bake sale with your colleagues! It’s a great way to recognise the important work orthoptists do, raise awareness in your workplace, and connect over a cuppa and some treats.
